Fizz on Foot offers a range of South of England walking tours in East and West Sussex.
With a focus on the great wines that England has to offer, tours take in vineyards with a wine tasting over one to four days. But it's not all about the wine — some tours will also include guided tours of local historical sites.
The Tour You will be staying in the beautiful downland village of Alfriston. The village has a long history of links between the sea and the hinterland and was a ‘route to market’ for contraband coming from the south coast. The river valley of the Cuckmere was a pass through the downs for traffic.
Your days with us will start with a local riverside or downland walk using public bridleways, footpaths and well-worn paths. You will need to wear appropriate clothing, and of course appropriate footwear such as stout shoes or walking boots. The morning walks will be on varying terrain and last between 90 minutes (on our 1 day tours) and up to 3 hours (on our 3 and 4 day breaks). You can remain in walking attire for the vineyard tours as these may also entail walking on soft ground, and amongst the vines.
Wine information We take you by minibus to a vineyard in East or West Sussex where you will see how the wine is produced and you will be able to sample the wine. Lunch will be served at the vineyard.
Each vineyard we visit produces their own speciality wines that help to boost the reputation of English wine across Europe and the world.
The vineyard hosts will explain all about the wine, the grapes and the methods of production and you will be able to make purchases if you wish.
