October is a spooky month at the Redoubt, as the 200 year old fortification opens up for Twilight Tours.
From ghostly sightings and mysterious objects to tales of gruesome battles, the torchlit guided tours around the creepy corridors and tunnels of the Redoubt Fortress are sure to be spine-chilling.
The Redoubt has received many ghostly sightings in recent years, from the strange crouching man on the gun platform to the mysterious tall lady in the white gown.
Paranormal groups regularly ghost hunt around the building and visitors have reported eerie figures walking through cell walls, spirit voices, and ice cold, uneasy feelings in the cells, and one casemate in particular.
Used initially as a Napoleonic encampment for up to 350 men, the fortress was later used as a Military Police headquarters during the First World War, where rooms were converted to cells, with some claims the fortress contained interrogation rooms.
During World War II the fortress was later used by Canadian troops prior to the D-Day landings.
Guided tours are conducted in groups, booking in advance is essential
