Eastbourne Loves the Olympics

Eastbourne celebrated the momentous occasion to cheer on the Olympic Torch on 17 July as it passed through the streets of Eastbourne. After the tourch had passed scores of residents and tourists alike marched to party in Princes Park.

There's even more celebrations from 27 July - 12 August as Eastbourne opens up its Olympic Live Site in Princes Park, with giant TV screen of live events from the Olympic park every day, plus fun activities and fireworks.

Daybreak in Eastbourne

Eastbourne was beamed live into millions of homes on Tuesday 17 July as ITV1 Daybreak came to Eastbourne beach to celebrate holidaying in the UK this summer!

Broadcasting live from 6.30am with presenter Gethin Jones, local schools, families and holiday-makers were encouraged to head down to the beach at breakfast time and feature in the live broadcast across the nation.

The party returned to Princes Park on Friday 27 July when the only Community Live Site in Sussex kicked off 17 days of live Olympic TV coverage starting with an opening ceremony party from 6pm.  The evening started with a live roadshow featuring fun and games followed by live coverage of the Olympic opening ceremony on a big screen until midnight.

Princes Park: 27 July to 12 August

  • Party starts 6.00 p.m. with Live Bands and Just Unique Roadshow
  • Olympic Opening Ceremony Big Screen from 9.00 p.m.
  • Licensed Bar
  • Refreshments
  • Funfair Rides
  • Live Site Big Screen open daily 10.00 a.m. - 10.00 p.m.
  • Hubby's Hub - office space with power and wifi - avoid the commute work in our Park Office.

Coinciding with the final day of Airbourne, live coverage of the Olympic closing ceremony on Sunday 12 August, featuring parachutists and ending in spectacular fireworks!
