Beach Boys’ Summer Sounds Hit Eastbourne’s Bandstand

19 June 2007

Eastbourne will be California Dreamin’ as the Beach Boys tribute band brings the sound of summer to the seafront on Friday 29th June.

Featuring all the group’s biggest hits, from “God Only Knows” to “Wouldn’t it be Nice”, there’s bound to be some “Good Vibrations” rocking the bandstand.

Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism & Environment, Councillor Steve Wallis said, “The weekly tribute bands have already proved popular this year and a Beach Boys tribute is ideal for a seaside summer evening. There’s plenty more favourites such as The Beatles, Take That and Shirley Bassey in the packed line up of weekly tribute acts over the summer, as well as a variety of other music during the week, all taking place in the unique bandstand location.”

The coming week sees the Becontree Brass Band providing an Afternoon on Broadway on Saturday 23rd June. The Redhill Corps of Drums perform on Sunday afternoon and spend Sunday night at the Proms with the Mayfield Band. There’s a change of pace on Saturday night as Rock Around bring their Rock ‘N Roll night to the Bandstand.

Wednesday 27th sees the return of the Mayfield Band with their 1812 Firework Concert and Thursday is Big Band Night with the Eddie Bryan Big Band.

The weekly Friday tribute nights are organised by Eastbourne Borough Council. Doors open at 7pm and concerts start at 8pm with advance tickets from £5.50 or from £6.50 on the door – book early to avoid disappointment at the Tourist Information Centre or by calling the Box Office on 01323 412000 (concessions available).
