Exciting Attractions Surf into Town for Free Beach Life Festival
6 July 2016
The brand new Beach Life Festival will be parking up on Eastbourne’s Eastern Seafront 16 – 17 July featuring a whole host of outdoor sporting activities, plus new arrivals, to celebrate the town’s popular coastal resort.
The free two-day event will also be home to some of the highlights from last year’s Eastbourne Extreme, promising to provide fun for all of the family.
Making a return is The Airbag Free Drop Tower; an exhilarating free fall activity for gutsy individuals to brave! The thrilling attraction will appear on Sunday, made up of a 6.5m high tower and a fully inflatable landing zone encouraging people to jump, leap and even front-flip from the platform. The jump is suitable for most ages, and guaranteed to be very popular.
Popping up across the weekend will also be a new Circus Skills Workshop featuring Ariel Hoop taster sessions for festival goers to jump in and try. Free ‘Come & Play’ arena with professional circus kit will be available too, plus a souvenir stand packed with circus goods inside.
Amongst the new attractions, the festival will be showcasing favourites from Eastbourne Extreme including the only outdoor Roller Derby tournament in Europe, The World Slalom Series competition, the VW Camper Bus Stop, Eastbourne Edge Hockey, Bubble Football and Buzz Active water sports.
In the lead up to Beach Life Festival, Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Enterprise Cllr Bannister commented, “Eastbourne’s seafront is one of the towns strongest assets, and it’s wonderful to be introducing an event that celebrates this. The transformation from Extreme to Beach Life has been both natural and exciting, and the new event holds a lot of promise for years to come.”
Outdoor skating is still a huge part of Beach Life Festival, with the Easy Peasy Skate and the LOCO Suicide Skate taking place as well as an indoor Roller Disco featured at Sk8 World on Sunday evening. BMX Enthusiasts won’t be disappointed either, as the event will display over 70 bikes at the Skate Park along the Eastern Prom. Princes Park will also host over the weekend the John Davis Fun Park, the biggest travelling fun park in Europe with fun for all the family, admission is by wristband.
For the relaxed music lovers, Beach Life Festival features the first weekend of Eastbourne Music Live featuring a hot line up at the live music stage complete with a licensed bar open 11am – 7pm Saturday and 11am – 5pm Sunday. Local bands Knocksville, Ivy Fire and L.A.R.G.E join the bill along with Red Hot Chilli Pepper tribute band Give It Away.
