Beachy Head's Very Own Ale On Tap At Eastbourne Beer Fest
5 October 2007
This year visitors to Eastbourne Beer Festival will be able to taste a brand new beer fresh from Beachy Head Brewery.
Fittingly named ‘Beachy Head Original Ale', the full bodied beer will be showcased alongside over 120 other real ales as Eastbourne holds its fifth annual Beer Festival, with tickets for Friday night already sold out.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "It is exciting to see new locally brewed ale make the line-up for this year's Beer Festival. It is also a brilliant opportunity for those in Eastbourne to taste products that are made on their doorstep."
Beachy Head Original Ale is not the only local beer on the menu. Previous festival favourite the Star of Eastbourne by Harvey's of Lewes will be back and this time will be joined by another new Beachy Head export. Parson Darby's Hole is named after the legend who set up lights to save men as they sailed around Beachy Head on stormy nights.
Last year's festival sold out before doors even opened and this year looks set to enjoy similar success with demand for tickets hitting an all time high. Friday night's session has already sold out and festival goers are being encouraged to book tickets immediately to avoid any disappointment.
Eastbourne Beer Festival runs from 11-13 October alongside the town's food and drink festival, Feastbourne. Drinkers can also look forward to sampling a host of bottled beers from around the world, as well as a fine selection of wines, ciders and perries. They'll also get the chance to enjoy the Oompah band who promise to provide more foot stomping beer kellar fun.
Thursday night will have a sixties theme with entertainment from the Tar Babies who play music by the Beatles, the Kinks, the Small Faces and all the great sixties bands. Festival goers are also invited to dress up on the night in their best sixties gear to win prizes for the best costume.
On Saturday during the day there is the chance to compete in the Big Pub Quiz with prizes for the highest scoring team.
Organised by Eastbourne Borough Council and CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), Eastbourne Beer Festival is held at the Winter Gardens. For more information on beers, tickets and opening times visit www.eastbournebeerfestival.co.uk or telephone 01323 412000.
