Eastbourne is Perfect Destination for a Staycation

20 January 2009

Eastbourne is looking forward to an influx of holidaymakers in 2009 as forecasters predict more Brits than ever will be enjoying a staycation and making the most of the great British seaside.

According to an article in the Guardian newspaper last week, twice as many Brits are planning to spend their holidays in the UK this year when compared to 2008 after the economic downturn and rising Euro puts people off travelling abroad. With Eastbourne's official tourism website VisitEastbourne.com planning a series of Special Offer campaigns offering reduced price breaks and saver deals, the resort is looking to make the most of the staycation trend this year.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "Eastbourne makes the perfect destination for a UK break and is situated in a glorious position on the Sussex coastline. With its own unique microclimate offering year round sunshine, Brits don't even need to go abroad for warmer weather! With predictions that there will be double the number of holidaymakers enjoying breaks in Britain this year, Eastbourne makes a top location for visitors and we'll be using special offers advertised on our website to entice people here and help them save money at the same time."

According to the Guardian newspaper, Johnsons Coach and Bus Travel say that Eastbourne is amongst the most popular destinations being booked for the summer with people still intent on enjoying a summer holiday.

Keen to make the most of the boom in the British tourism economy, Eastbourne Tourism have teamed up with local accommodation providers to run special offer breaks on their website, including 3 for 2 deals. All bookable online at visiteastbourne.com, various breaks are available at a range of accommodation providers.
