Conference Agents Tour Eastbourne
10 December 2008
Eastbourne Conference Bureau has just enjoyed a very successful weekend after holding a familiarisation visit for two significant conference agents showcasing the town's first class event facilities.
Two agents who book venues for corporate events up and down the country enjoyed a whistle-stop tour last weekend as the town's Conference Bureau showcased the conference venues, facilities, and hotels available on the south coast.
From a night at Eastbourne's 5-star Grand Hotel to a walk through Alfriston to admire the beautiful setting that the area offers, Finders for Venues and CJB Consultancy, were treated to a weekend finding out about the business facilities and delegate activities presented in Eastbourne.
An Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson said "The familiarisation visit went extremely well and it was great to invite these national agents down to Eastbourne to show them what a fantastic conference destination the town makes. It was very pleasing that our accommodation partners also got involved to give the agents a jam-packed weekend that I'm sure will leave them excited with a view to return soon."
The weekend visit was sponsored by those hotels signed up to the Conference Membership Scheme who treated the agents to complimentary dinner and overnight accommodation in a bid to promote Eastbourne as a business destination.
The agents were given a tour of Eastbourne's main conference venue, Devonshire Park Centre, and shown around the huge exhibition space and delegate facilities available.
The weekend itinerary also included tours of several hotels signed up to the Conference Membership Scheme that also offer meeting and event space, including the new Big Sleep Hotel, Cavendish, Eastbourne Centre and Grand Hotel.
Moira Erwin from Finders for Venues said: "This trip showed me the many opportunities there are in Eastbourne for the corporate meetings market. With the demands of the client ever increasing I am now able to confidently promote Eastbourne."
With the town's Conference Bureau nearing the end of a very successful year under the new Eastbourne Conference Membership Scheme, the resort can already expect double the number of conferences next year with 14 confirmed and an additional six pencilled into the diary.
