Half-Term is Hotting-up with Family Breaks in Sunny Eastbourne

The whole family is in for a jam-packed half term this month as Eastbourne puts on a cracking events line up featuring seafront carnivals and beachside performances to getting hands on with super science, wilderness workshops and brand new openings at Drusillas Park!

Fun at the Fortress

An enjoyable yet educational half term is in store for Eastbourne’s youngsters as the Redoubt Fortress will host trails, crafts, science workshops and a sci-fi film screening. Youngsters will have the chance to learn about various topics in a science week from 29 May – 2 June including space, archaeology, fossils and spy science plus a film screening of Ghostbusters! Kids can discover what is hidden in the Fortress with trail and get crafty from 27 May – 4 June.

Summer fun at the Redoubt Fortress

 

Amongst the spectacular science sessions is Spy Science on 29 May which will give kids a glimpse into the secrets of a code cracking spy, solving crimes with fingerprint evidence and writing with invisible ink!

Colourful Science on 1 June will teach children how to make colourful dyes as Eastbourne’s ancestors did thousands of years ago. Using flowers, leaves and roots children can recreate the bright colours that were used in Stone Age fashion plus finding out which stinky ingredient made them stay so bright!

Kids can even have a go at being a professional Ghostbuster with an ectoplasm workshop on 3 June, followed by a film at the Fortress featuring sci-fi classic ‘Ghostbusters’!

The Great Outdoors

As the weather warms up, children can go Wild in the Woods at the Seven Sisters Country Park where they will be taught how to make a den, practice fire lighting or simply toast marshmallows for a true campfire experience! The session is on 1 June and is suitable for 5-11 year olds who are accompanied by an adult.

Drusillas will be unveiling their brand new rides this half-term as ‘Go Safari!’, ‘The Hippopotabus’ and ‘The Flying Cheetahs’ open for the first time on 21 May! The Safari Express Train will whizz children deep into the heart of the zoo on a magical train ride.

Youngsters will have the chance to meet their TV heroes as they make an appearance across the half term, Hello Kitty will be in her house meeting visitors on 29 May and 1 June as well as Chase and Marshall from PAW Patrol on 31 May!

Live Entertainment by the Sea

The whole family can enjoy Eastbourne’s entertainment line-up across the half term, from children’s theatre shows to tribute acts which are as good as the real deal! Eastbourne Bandstand will be hosting tributes to musical legends and modern day greats starting with ‘The Killers’ on 26 May, ‘Frank Sinatra’ on 27 May and the iconic ‘Beatles’ on 2 June! Paying tribute to the popular girl band is the ‘Little Mix Experience’ at the Winter Garden on 25th May.

Youngsters can catch their TV favourites come to life on stage at the Royal Hippodrome. 29 May will see ‘Sarah and Duck’ on their great big adventure! CBeebies favourite ‘Mister Maker and The Shapes’ will be bringing their hit live theatre tour to Eastbourne on 2 June which is set to get Mini Makers up and dancing!

The Sunshine Carnival

The biggest seafront carnival in the South East returns to Eastbourne this year for a colourful procession of floats, brilliant bands, dancers, entertainers and more! The vibrant parade will make its way from Western Lawns to Princes Park in a lively celebration of Eastbourne that sees thousands of supporters
