Festive Spirit at Eastbourne Christmas Market

1 December 2008

A brand new Farmers and Christmas Market is coming to the south coast this weekend as Eastbourne hosts over 30 stalls to celebrate Christmas Magic.

A huge range of stalls will set up in Eastbourne town centre from Saturday 6 - Sunday 7 December and make an all new attraction as part of the annual Christmas Magic weekend. Christmas shoppers can look forward to browsing local produce, handmade gifts, sweet treats and unique festive presents, with Christmas Day just a few weeks away.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "The new Christmas Market is set to make this weekend extra special and really offer residents and visitors something different as they finish off their Christmas shopping. With plenty of festivities set to take place in the town centre over the whole weekend, families can really get into the Christmas spirit with lots to keep them busy."

Kids can join Father Christmas in his parade through the town centre as well as visit him in his brand new grotto at Bonners Music Store, ride on the traditional Carousel outside Marks & Spencer, or search for silver treasure in the Treasure Hunt Competition.

Plus Charlie the Clown will be making the crowds laugh, Derek Legg's story-telling will keep the kids quiet, and there'll be plenty of musical entertainment throughout the weekend from choirs, the Phoenix Singers, and Patsy.

This year the Christmas Magic weekend is being held in aid of St. Wilfrid's Hospice with all money raised being used to care and support patients and their families in the local community.
