Eastbourne Tops Most Watched Online Video Clips
12 December 2008
Beachy Head, Eastbourne and the World Downhill Skateboarding Championships are the subject of the most watched online video as ITN's digital production company announces its top 10 most popular clips.
Diagonal View is a joint venture between ITN Source and digital entrepreneur Matt Heiman and they repackage unique archive footage to produce online content. The clip featuring Eastbourne's newest Go Fast! Speed Days event that took place at Beachy Head earlier this year has topped 1.7 million views across video sharing sites such as Myspace, YouTube, Yahoo, MSN, Daily Motion and Metacafe and polls at number one in Diagonal View's most watched videos to date.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "To find out that a video of an Eastbourne event has generated that many views is amazing news! Speed Days continues to attract significant media interest and featuring some of the world's top gravity racers, it has become a worldwide phenomenon that people across the globe are talking about."
Yesterday ITN source revealed the list of Diagonal View's top 10 clips as the total number of views reached 13 million.
The company was launched just six months ago and the Speed Days video, only filmed in September, has become the number one clip in less than four months. The skateboarding clip has so far attracted over 170,000 more views than second place clip that features a prehistoric shark.
Go Fast! Speed Days is the UK leg of the World Downhill Skateboarding Championships and took place in Eastbourne for the second time earlier this year. Featuring downhill skateboarding, luge racing, gravity biking and inline skating, the event has been talked about in countries as far afield as South Africa, Canada and Australia.
Eastbourne Borough Council who works closely with the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA), UKGSA and Go Fast Sports to stage the event are already looking forward to next year.
Go Fast! Speed Days will return to Beachy Head for the third year running from 18-20 September 2009.
