Roman London's First Voices

Dr Sadie Watson – ‘Roman London’s First Voices: Wooden writing tablets from the Bloomberg excavations’
Sadie Watson was the Site Director for the major excavations at Bucklersbury House (Bloomberg London), the largest excavation to be held in the City for over 20 years. This involved complex excavation through 8 metres of waterlogged deposits spanning the entire Roman period. This talk focusses on the wooden writing tablets from the site, which contained handwritten records of Roman Londoners, offering an unparalleled glimpse back in time to the first century AD.
