Skoolie Stays

About

Skoolie Stays is a luxury converted American school bus, hidden away on the stunning Sussex South Downs in a private field close to the dramatic white cliffs of Beachy Head.  It is available year-round for glamping escapes and offers guests the perfect balance of quirky and comfortable escapism with access to all Sussex has to offer.

Hikers and bikers will love the easy access to the South Downs Way, with routes along the stunning coastline to Seven Sisters Country Park and beyond. In the other direction, a short meander down the hill takes you to Eastbourne, where pubs, galleries, theatre, restaurants and shopping are all available.

What really sets this accommodation apart is the bus itself. The exterior has the iconic look you will have seen in countless American movies and TV shows, a huge grill and bug-eyed wing mirrors set in a bright yellow body. Inside, it has been transformed into a bespoke tiny home full of luxuries, hand-finished design detail and eco-initiatives that minimise impact on the environment.

The Skoolie itself:

• Master bedroom with a king-sized bed (sleeps 2) and wraparound views.

• 43 square foot Sun Deck raised above the fields – perfect for morning coffees and late nights stargazing.

• ‘Murphy’ style fold away bunk-beds (sleeps 2 children or adults up to 6ft), cleverly-designed to fold-up during the day.

• Full kitchen with a double burner gas-stove top, fridge, large sink and plenty of storage and surface space.

• ‘American diner’ eating area, made from the original recycled bus-seats and a vintage teak school table.

• Bathroom with fully tiled shower and a top-of-the-range composting toilet (no smells and no wasted water, helping you reduce the impact of your weekend away on the natural environment).

• Cosy lounge with a clean-burning log stove and a comfy leather sofa.

• Plenty of USB electrical points – 2400W of solar power (plenty to charge your gadgets).

• Super-cool driver’s cab area with all the original buttons and levers.

• A cosy rural hideaway for all seasons and all weathers.

• Tea, coffee, bedding and towels are provided and hampers, wood and ice can all be pre-booked.
