Alistair Grant was born in London in 1925. Grant studied at Birmingham College of Art (1941-43) and then served with the RAF during WWII. After the war, he was accepted into the painting school of the Royal College of Art (RCA), 1947-50. His tutors included Carel Weight and Ruskin Spear. He then became interested in printmaking and studied etching with Robert Austin and lithography with Edwin La Dell. This exhibition features some of Grant's earliest stone lithographs; many show an inflence of the work of the French artists, Vuillard and Toulouse-Lautrec.

The RCA was to stay an important part of his life for the next 35 years as he worked in the printmaking department at the RCA from 1955 until 1990 when he retired; professor emeritus of printmaking.

Forms of Land & Sea - an exhibition of monotypes by Rob Peel

Rob Peel (1949-2019) grew up in East Sussex and his memories of quiet, solitary adventures exploring the Downs or the harbour and coastline, provided constant inspiration for his work. Peel studied fine art at Birmingham School of Art and later in London. The prints in this exhibition are all monotypes and each is a unique image. Peel made his monotypes on the bed of his printing press using a combination of stencils, collage and drawing directly into the ink to produce a range of surfaces from which to build his prints.

We are really delighted to be sharing Rob Peel's work. Opens Friday 24th May.
