Eastbourne Beer Festival Kicks Off New Autumn Tour

12 September 2018

Fans of Eastbourne Beer Festival need not be disappointed this autumn, as the annual real ale celebration kicks off its first ever tour, while its Winter Garden home enjoys a renovation.

Eastbourne Beer FestivalThe two month festival from 26 September to 26 November will see 32 pubs join in the tour across Eastbourne, Pevensey, Polegate, Seaford and the South Downs, offering a mouth-watering selection of real ale and cider, plus the chance to win prizes along the way.

Kicking off with a launch event on Wednesday 26 September at The Lamb Inn from 6.30pm, punters can pick up a free tasting passport and sample some Harvey’s brews, including festival favourite, the ‘Star of Eastbourne’. Using the tasting passport, real ale and cider fans can collect stamps at each pub along the route for the chance to claim a free festival t-shirt and win exclusive prizes.

The new real ale tour replaces the annual October beer festival which is due to return next year at the newly opened Winter Garden from 10 to 12 October 2019.

Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister said “We couldn’t let the October beer festival date go by without a nod to our wonderful local ales and ciders. We have an impressive array of friendly pubs and local beers on our doorstep and this is the perfect way to get out and explore while sampling some tantalising brews this autumn.”

All pubs on the tour have been selected with the help of CAMRA and local publican Shoes Simes, for their array of real ales, traditional ciders and close links to public transport on bus and rail routes.

Sponsored by Harvey’s Brewery, those taking part can pick up stamps in their passport at each pub, and be on their way to claiming a free festival t-shirt at the end of the tour. All those also reaching 25 stamps will be entered into a competition to win an exclusive brewery tour at Harvey’s in Lewes.

Festival fans can also look forward to another two evening events, with a mid-tour event at The Stage Door on Thursday 18 October and closing night on Monday 26 November at The Eagle, both from 6.30pm.

The Eastbourne Beer Festival on Tour runs from 26 September to 26 November 2018. Real ale and cider drinkers can also make a note in the diary for Beer and Cider by the Sea, which returns from 24 to 26 May and the October Eastbourne Beer Festival returning to its Winter Garden home from 10 to 12 October 2019.

Festival passports priced at £1 each will be available to buy from The Lamb Inn, The Eagle or The Stage Door, or alternatively participants can grab a free passport at the opening night at The Lamb Inn on 26 November.
