Encounter the ELO Sound at the Bandstand

25 July 2018

Music lovers can take a journey through time with The ELO Encounter as they bring the evocative sounds of the Electric Light Orchestra to life for the first time at the Eastbourne Bandstand on the evening of Saturday 4 August.

The ELO Sound at the BandstandIt’ll be ‘Roll over Beethoven’ as the soaring strings and striking vocal harmonies of The ELO Encounter entertain audiences with the much loved songs from ELO’s hit-filled library including ‘Evil Woman’, ‘Telephone Line’ and of course, ‘Mr Blue Sky’.

During ELO's original 14-year period of active recording and touring, they sold over 50 million records worldwide, notching up twenty Top20 songs on the UK chart. Their recent revival also saw them take to the famous Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival in 2016.

‘That’ll Be the Day’ on Friday 3 August when Rob Maskell & the Cricketers take to the stage in tribute to the rock and roll pioneer, Buddy Holly. The audience will be singing ‘Oh Boy’ and hoping that the show isn’t over in a ‘Heartbeat’ as the group play many of Buddy’s hits included ‘Peggy Sue’, ‘It Doesn't Matter Anymore’ and ‘Raining In My Heart’.

Holly is often regarded as the artist who defined the traditional rock-and-roll line-up of two guitars, bass, and drums. Despite the fact his career was tragically cut short, he remains a major influence on later popular music artists, including Bob Dylan, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

Tickets cost £7.95 in advance (child £5.95) and doors open at 7pm for an 8pm performances. Friends of Eastbourne Bandstand card holders receive 10% off their ticket.
