Eastbourne Walking Festival

About

The aim of the walk, lead by Nick Symons from Eastbourne Downland Group, will be to alert people to the opportunities to find ‘food-for-free’ from nature. This will include consideration of legal restrictions and sustainability issues. It will be a fairly gentle stroll through a variety of natural and semi-natural habitats, with plenty of time to poke around and discuss what we find! The main route will stick to (mostly wide) footpaths, with one descent on a staircase (down to the beach) of about 30m and a stretch of uneven beach of about 350m. It will be along Eastbourne’s western seafront, including the Italian Garden and the Holywell area. The start time is arranged so that there will be an optional opportunity to explore on the rocky shore during the low-tide at the end of the walk. There is a risk of slipping on seaweed covered rocks.
