Eclectic US artist, photographer and film maker Man Ray (1890-1976) was one of the founders of the Dada movement and had a long association with Surrealism. He mainly worked in Paris as a photographer, exploring the principles of space and motion. Likewise, Ukranian –born French artist Sonia Delaunay (1885-1979) was also Paris based for a time. She is best known for her colourful geometric abstraction, designs that she used for fabrics, wallcoverings and clothes. Together with her husband, Robert, she co-founded the Orphism movement. Popular speaker John Perrin will explore the life and work of these influential avant-garde artists.
John Perrin is a very experienced lecturer who runs regular WEA courses throughout Sussex on the Appreciation of Modern Art.
