Beach Life Festival Reaches New Heights with Extreme Bungee
27th June 2018
Daredevils can jump into Eastbourne’s Beach Life Festival next month, as the free two-day festival on 14-15 July adds a 175 foot bungee to its extreme line-up.
Those brave enough can jump for charity on Saturday 14 July, with a free jump for anyone raising £100 or more, for one of the festival’s official charity partners, or simply pay £60 without fundraising.
With a range of local charities participating, jumpers must book in advance and choose from St Wilfrid’s Hospice, The JPK Project, Chalk Farm, Embrace, People Matter, Defiant Sports, Chestnut Tree House, Demelza, East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service, Rise and Shine, You Raise Me Up, Scope and Age UK East Sussex.
Those without a head for heights can try out a team based challenge on 17 foot boards, as groups of 4 to 6 battle it out for the coveted Beach Life trophy in the giant XL Stand-up Paddleboard contest, with entries open now.
Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister said “We’ve reached new heights and are ramping up the adrenaline this year with something for all ages. This is a great opportunity to unleash the inner daredevil in you and even raise money for charity, or simply try something new on skates or on the water with the kids.”
Beach Life fans can enjoy more extreme fun over the weekend with Europe’s only outdoor Roller Derby event, Jet Surfing demonstrations, slalom and speed skating and a Last Man Standing inflatable podium game.
A 36 metre pumptrack circuit will be open to all ages for scooters, skateboards, BMX and balance bikes, along with skilled performances by World Champion pro-scooter rider Dante Hutchinson. SkateWorld, Sk8School and Eastbourne Skating Club will also be on hand organising skating games, tournaments and demonstrations, and a SkateWorld after party on Saturday night.
Watersports newbies can book in now to try windsurfing, sailing and paddleboard taster sessions from the Buzz Active beachfront watersports centre, or kick back and chill with live music from the festival stage and a World Cup Final live screening on Sunday night.
The VW Bus Stop Tour and 1066 Harley Owners Group will be rolling into town with a parade of vintage campervans and classic motorcycles, while junior Jenson’s can tear up the track in the Trackstars inflatable go kart race course.
Bungee Jump at Beach Life!Kids can try their hand at plate spinning and juggling with Circus by the Sea, featuring free sports and play sessions on Sunday and Aerial Hoop taster sessions for £5, or reach dizzy heights with funfair rides, inflatable football, bouncy castles and bungee trampolines.
For those seeking inner calm, Malli Yoga will be helping to bring strength, flexibility and awareness of the body, while Swoove demonstrates the latest trend and fitness benefits of the sing-a-long exercise class, invented in Sussex.
Beach Life returns from Saturday 14 – Sunday 15 July from 11am each day, and entry is free. To book a bungee jump, enter the XL Stand-up Paddleboard Challenge or book a trade stand, visit www.BeachlifeFestival.co.uk.
