About

Alex Farquharson, the director of Tate Britain and chair of the 2023 Turner Prize jury, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that the artworks on show at Towner Eastbourne share common themes.  "They deal with a number of different social issues as well as social structures that perhaps risk confining and restricting life, almost taking freedom away in some cases."

Situated in Eastbourne’s Beacon Shopping Centre, The Big Conversation, curated by Compass Arts, represents artists whose lives have been impacted by a myriad of social issues and structures.  Come and join that conversation that they have made visible through over 20 installations and artworks.
