Poetry Cafe

About

World Poetry Day is celebrated across the globe on 21 March every year. This year, The Poetry Café Eastbourne are joining forces with Eastbourne ALIVE's mission to promote participation in arts across mediums on the theme of ‘Artspeak’. The event will take place at The Fisherman’s Club on Eastbourne’s beautiful seafront on 21 March 2024 from 7.00pm, showcasing the works of invited poets, reading poetry inspired by art.

Following on from the Poetry Café's Friday Late appearance at Towner Eastbourne in January, the aim is to build on the poets' responses to the Turner Prize 2023 nominees' works.

The Poetry Café Eastbourne are a community group, meeting monthly for open mics, providing a platform for local poets to share their work with audiences and fellow poets in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to come along, listen and perhaps even participate. No membership or entry fees.

World Poetry Day event commences with performances at 7.00pm, bar open earlier. This is a free event but donations on the day are very welcome. All ages welcome!
