Fireworks

Following the severe alert issued by the UK Government on 14 August and in consultation with partners, we regret to announce we will not be staging the Airbourne fireworks on Sunday evening.

Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Member for Tourism & Place, Cllr Jenny Williams, said “We understand many of our residents and airshow visitors will be disappointed, however this decision has been taken in the interests of public safety and in ensuring we do not place further pressures on emergency services at this already busy time.

“There is still much to enjoy at this year’s airshow, from the incredible RAF Typhoon and awesome MiG-17 fast jets, to The Starlings, B-17 ‘Sally B’ Flying Fortress, interactive military ground attractions and our first ever Red Devils parachute display today. Plus, lots of fantastic bars and restaurants to while away the evening as the sun goes down.

“Now the temperature is cooling a little, this is the perfect time to visit the show and enjoy some of Europe’s best display teams.”

Each year a fantastic firework finale closes Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow, thanks to local sponsors.

The glittering firework display takes place on Sunday 16 August at the Wish Tower Beach from approx 8pm with Radio Airbourne 87.7FM sponsored by Caffyns, getting the party started, and fireworks at 9pm.

The display will also be celebrating 30 years of Frontier Fireworks this year, with a bespoke show featuring a host of new effects and a high-energy soundtrack, launching shells, mines, candles, and cakes up to a height of 650ft into the night sky.
