Children aged between 8-14 can learn how to stay safe on the beach and in the sea this summer with the Tyro Lifeguard course being run by the Eastbourne Beach Lifeguard team throughout the school summer holidays.

Tyro Lifeguard course Lead by a qualified and experienced team, the course is designed to provide youngsters with first aid training, a guide to beach and personal safety plus an introduction to basic lifeguarding, all of which will equip them with the essential skills they need to enjoy time spent on or near the water.

Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister said “We all love to have fun in the sun and spending time at the beach is a great way to enjoy time as a family. However, it is vitally important that our children know how to enjoy the beach and sea safely.

“The Tyro Lifeguard course is an excellent way for children to learn some of the key skills they need to stay safe while also having fun at the same time.”
