Gounod's Faust

About

Following a highly successful production of Offenbach's Belle Lurette - "We were engaged and dazzled, seduced and amused" – Planet Hugill, New Sussex Opera stages a new English language production of Gounod's hell-raising opera Faust. It owes its popularity to a story which is an irresistible combination of sex and the supernatural along with a score which is full of variety- beautiful arias (e.g. the "Jewel Song") ensembles of great dramatic intensity, memorable tunes and exhilarating choruses ("The Fair", "The Waltz" and "the Soldiers' Chorus"). This intimately staged production will take you on a whirlwind journey of desire, debauchery, and damnation - with ravishing music for good measure!
