The Lamb Folk Club

The Lamb Folk Club

The Lamb Folk Club meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, upstairs in The Lamb Inn in Eastbourne Old Town. Everybody is welcome and we present a wide range of professional folk singers and players as well as floor spots for visiting musicians.

See below for timetable of events.

7th March – Open Stage – Free

21st March – Doubleheader – Rowan Godel and Anne Sumner - £7
Having worked with some of folk's biggest names, including The Oyster Band and The Levellers, traditional singer and songwriter Rowan has been described as an “underground folk superstar”. Anne has been turning heads with her finely crafted songs and expressive vocals reminiscent of Tracy Chapman or Joan Armatrading. Two superb young artists on one bill!

4th April – Open Stage – Free

18th April – Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar - £7
Since meeting six years ago, Greg and Ciaran have scooped two BBC Folk Awards, released three acclaimed albums, appeared at major festivals and become one of the UK's most in-demand duos. Technically brilliant (fiddle and guitar) with superb vocals and stagecraft, their meteoric rise is set to continue!

2nd May – Two Coats Colder - £7
Sensational on their previous visit, this four piece has rapidly become a firm favourite on the club and festival circuit with its diverse mix of traditional and contemporary styles. “Anna Bass's voice isreally quite amazing” - Mike Harding.

16th May – Open Stage – Free

6th June – Luke Jackson - £7
Still in his early twenties, Luke is hot property with four acclaimed CDs and startling performances at major festivals from Cambridge to Sidmouth. His honed guitar skills, distinctive vocals and finely observed narrative songs have earned two BBC Folk Award nominations. “Jackson has been compared to a young Richard Thompson and for once these are not empty words” - Acoustic Magazine.

20th June – Steve Ashley - £7
Emerging in the late 1960s, Steve's debut album “Stroll On” is still regarded as a folk/rock masterpiece and his latest, “Another Day”, reinforces his position as one of our very finest songsmiths. Poetic, challenging, compassionate and often very funny, his live shows should not be missed!
