The Story of Eastbourne exhibition and heritage hub told the story of Eastbourne through the eyes of the real people who lived it. It welcomed over 22,000 visitors in its first year before Covid brought about its early closure. It was situated at 248 Terminus Road.
The exhibition took visitors on a journey of 150,000 years of history through the eyes of the real people who lived it. Ranging from pre-history to present day, visitors were able to discover the story of Eastbourne through the eyes of past residents, starting with the Iron Age woman and child, discovered during excavations in Kings Drive.
From an ancient elephant’s tooth unearthed in Eastbourne to a piece of real Roman floor, a vast collection of artefacts were on display, along with interactive exhibits, child-friendly activities and significant past discoveries, all of which tell the story of human settlement in the area.
The town's story is actually far older than most people imagine – in fact, did you know that ancient elephants once grazed through Terminus Road in Eastbourne?
