Festive Family Film Favourites

From old favourites to modern classics, everyone has a film they love to watch at Christmas time. Whether you’re a traditionalist or happy to try something new, there’s nothing better than settling down to watch a great movie that’s guaranteed to put us in a festive mood. Cinema

The TV schedules are sure to full of great films over the Christmas holidays, but if you’d rather immerse yourself in the true movie experience then a visit to the cinema will truly enhance your enjoyment of the film. The Towner Gallery now has a cinema screen which has a growing film screening list. With just 84 seats, the cinema is a cozy alternative to the larger cinema chains, plus there’s a bar too meaning you can take your drink into the film with you.

The Towner Cinema will be showing a number of Christmas favourites this year, to help you get into the Christmas spirit – maybe one of your favourites will be playing!


Arthur Christmas
On Saturday 22 December, the family film Arthur Christmas will be showing. From the creators of Wallace and Gromit, and featuring the voices of an all-star cast, including James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Eva Longoria and Michael Palin, Arthur Christmas is truly a treat for the whole family.
Its a Wondeful Life

On Sunday 23 December, the black and white classic, It’s Wonderful Life is showing at 11am. This 1946 film starring James Stewart and directed by Frank Capra is often high on many people’s Christmas favourite list – it’s clearly a popular choice as the first screening has sold out and a second one was subsequently added!

On Saturday 29 December, the animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas will be shown. A firm family favourite, will keep the little ones entertained even after the big day has passed!
