Step Back in Time with a Vintage Break in Eastbourne

Eastbourne’s unspoiled surroundings give a nod to nostalgia and era’s gone by with exciting themed experiences. From concerts at the 1930’s Art Deco Bandstand to a motoring festival which celebrates classic cars, Eastbourne offers visitors the chance to relive the past with vintage breaks that stand the test of time.

Eastbourne’s vintage roots are everywhere that you look, from the traditional Victorian Pier to the Art Deco architecture that overlooks the seafront.

Eastbourne’s art deco influence can be admired both at the iconic seafront Bandstand and enjoyed with an overnight stay at The Hydro Hotel. The 1930’s Bandstand will kick off a jam-packed summer season with nostalgic tribute acts and themed nights including “Back to the 80s” on the first Saturday of the season, Saturday 29 April.

Wake up in an Agatha Christie novel with a stay at Eastbourne’s clifftop Hydro Hotel, the ultimate vintage getaway which oozes art deco elegance. Continue life’s luxuries with a bespoke chauffeur-driven ride in a 1920’s Rolls Royce around the South Downs with The Vintage Motoring Co.

Adding some va-va-voom to the Western Lawns is Eastbourne’s car spectacular, Magnificent Motors on 29-30 April. Hundreds of classic and vintage cars will be parked up in a show stopping display. From James Bond’s iconic Aston Martin as remembered fondly from the 1964 film ‘Goldfinger’ to a 1909 Brush Runabout.

Next door, The Pavilion also opens its doors on 20 March to reveal the latest exhibition “Living on the Edge: 8000 Years by the Sea” which tells the story of human occupation along the dramatic Sussex coastline.

Making an appearance in between the iconic Pier and Bandstand is the impressive Continental Market where you’ll find the ultimate keepsake. The palm-tree lined promenade is transformed into a European marketplace which not only offers divine cuisines but vintage collectables including pottery and jewellery. The Owl and the Sewing Cat is the perfect spot for those who wish to get crafty. With stunning vintage inspired fabrics available, retro fashion and furnishings can be brought to life through sewing workshops.
