Kids Spy Half Term Fun at Fortress Science Workshop

16 May 2018

A crack team of spies will be unleashed on the Redoubt Fortress over half term, as the return of the sell-out Science Week kicks off with a Spy Science workshop for the under 12’s.

Kids Spy Half Term Fun

Running from Bank Holiday Monday 28 May to Friday 1 June, the twice daily workshops run by Heritage Eastbourne, covering fossils, space, colour mixology and archaeology, will see kids get hands-on with experiments and inventive creations.

As well as uncovering secret codes and crime solving with fingerprints in Spy Science, further workshops offer Fossil Science as budding palaeontologists discover how fossils are made and dig around to reveal their own pre-historic creatures.

Artists and mixologists will be able to step back in time and create their own natural dyes, as our ancestors would have done thousands of years ago. Using flowers, roots and leaves to make the bright colours that would have been seen in the latest Stone Age fashions, Heritage Eastbourne will reveal which stinky ingredient made them so bright.

Keen astrophysicists can create their own solar system in a Space Science workshop, and excavators can examine microscopic evidence buried in the soil in Archaeology Science, and get hands on with Eastbourne’s extraordinary archaeological finds.

Workshops run Monday to Friday from 11am and 2pm each day and are suitable for ages 5 to 11, costing £3.50 per child, booking essential.
