The Holidays Are Coming To Eastbourne!

It’s the most wonderful time of year (again)! Christmas always creeps up faster than the previous year, well this year we’re prepared even if you’re not quite there yet. We have a full-to-the-brim diary of Christmas events to get you feeling festive!

 Who doesn’t love a good Christmas themed craft fair? With beautiful hand crafted gifts and mouth-watering smells of tasty treats and mulled wine hanging in the air, it’s a no brainer really! Michelham Priory are hosting a Winter Craft & Gift fair on 11-12 November with over 100 stalls, decorations and music to get you into the festive spirit nice and early.

Star Lanterns

 

Seaside Road is once again hosting their BoHo Winter light festival on 18 November featuring a Light Procession from the Arndale Centre to Leaf Hall. A truly unique free event that brings the community together with a colourful display of lanterns, this year featuring a woodland theme. Browse the stalls for Christmas presents or just a little treat for yourself, warm your tummy with festive delights whilst listening to popular Christmas songs sung by carollers!

Winter Wonderland Illuminations

 

Giving Blackpool illuminations a run for their money, Drusillas are creating a winter wonderland of illuminations which are open to admire from the 18 November until 1 January. The dazzling display will be turned on at 10am daily with a magical light show beginning at 4:30, be prepared to be amazed by this phenomenal show synchronised to music.

For its sixth year Mead’s Magic is returning on 24 November to wow crowds in the run up to the big day! A festive street market includes a wide variety of stalls showcasing local handcrafts from seasonal gifts to scrummy food, entertained by Eastbourne based band ‘The Dirty Martinis’. Mead’s Magic is fun for the whole family with a Santa’s grotto, elves pottery making and decorate your own gingerbread. This is one event you definitely don’t want to miss out on!

 

It’s time to bring your artistic flare to the seaside by making something you can proudly display in your home! At Birling Gap on 26 November the National Trust are hosting Christmas wreath making sessions, encouraging you to bring your favourite ribbons and sparkly baubles to decorate your wreath however you wish, whilst being provided with a selection of natural materials to create the perfect seaside wreath.

Little Christmas in Little Chelsea

 

 

The annual Eastbourne extravaganza is back! How can we be in the run up to Christmas without the Little Christmas in Little Chelsea fair, hitting the town on 1 December. Bringing the Christmas spirit to Eastbourne with stalls galore and family entertainment all in the quaint Little Chelsea.

Neon Noel Show

Bringing spectacular Christmas luminale to Eastbourne town hall Neon Noel is making a well anticipated return, this amazing projection of lights lasts for 4 minutes shining brightly against the clock tower. Gliding along to music the display is one to really blow your socks off! Shows can be viewed every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the run up to Christmas from 1- 17 December with three showing times at 4:30pm, 5:30pm and 6:30pm. The first spectacle can be seen at Little Christmas in Little Chelsea.

Christmas is coming to Alfriston for a special weekend of entertainment, ‘Deck the Halls; A musical wonderland’ takes over Alfriston village from 1-3 December. With late night shopping for the grown-ups with live pantomimes and live music being performed across the weekend in various shops. The highlight of the weekend in world famous author Jacqueline Wilson, being the honorary guest to light the tree Saturday night!
Fancy a little sing song? Head over to The Observatory for Christmas songs by starlight on 2 December and join the choir to sing into the most joyous season of the year. Celebrated with mulled wine and mince pies full of festive cheer.
Haven’t been able to get to any of the previous Christmas fairs? No fret! The annual Christmas Fair in Motcombe gardens on 2 December. Celebrating local businesses in the oldest part of the town, a real community feel! Bigger and better this year, with more for the whole family to see and do from Victorian carousels to Morris dancers, fairground rides to more local produce than you could imagine!
Christmas At The PrioryStep back in the ages to find out how Christmas was celebrated by our ancestors at Michelham Priory through the ages. 2 & 3 December see a weekend dedicated to tutor celebrations from a great yule log in the feast room to traditional Tudor dancing! 9 & 10 December brings the Victorian era to the priory hand making Victorian themed cards to join in Christmas cookery. The final weekend see’s visitor’s return to the World War 2 era on 16 & 17 December. With crafts and war time games for all to enjoy, do you dare to enter the ‘secrets of the wardrobe’ session taking you to Narnia?
Royal Hippodrome Theatre

 

 

It’s the most wonderful time of the year down at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre, with Showings of ‘Jingle all the way’ every Wednesday from 1 November – 13 December to get you in the Christmas spirt singing along to classic Christmas hits!

You’ll have no trouble getting into the Christmas spirit this season with more than enough events booked into the diary to ease the count down until the big day!
