Seafront Soapbox Race

Seafront Soapbox Race

Sunday 20 September

Seafront Soapbox Race

September will see a new event take place in Eastbourne where participants are encouraged to build their own soapbox in order to race each other along the seafront. The race will take place on Dukes Drive and finish at Helen Gardens.

Spectators are able to watch these wacky creations as they hilariously whizz around corners with the hope of staying in one piece by the time they reach the finish line! Entries will cost £25 with a cash prize up for grabs for the fastest soap box and the wackiest creation.

Soapbox Information Pack

What is a soapbox race?

A soapbox race is a race between creatively home-made designed carts in a race to see who can stay the course and be crowned the soapbox champion.

The famous Red Bull Soapbox race will give you plenty of inspiration of some of the wackiest creations that have been made before!

If you've entered a team...

Seafront Soapbox Race

Whether it’s raising your company profile, doing your bit for charity or a project between family and friends, we’d love to have you involved. Complete your wacky creation that doesn’t have to cost the earth and have a great time building a soapbox!

Top design tips for speed include:

• Use a solid and robust base
• Strong wheels and axles are key
• Avoid use of heavy design materials
• Keep the driver’s seat low to prevent toppling over and improve speed
• Use aerodynamics to minimise drag
• Or alternatively, aim for maximum cheers with a crowd-pleasing wild and wacky creation for the ultimate bumper ride!
